Interstellar: Console table

The Interstellar Console belongs to the ongoing Interstellar series. drawing inspiration from the fascinating formation of meteorites, each piece celebrates the beauty found in different stages of the formation process, reflecting on the millions of years it takes for these interstellar objects to develop.

Process

The Interstellar series underwent a highly experimental design process, involving over fifty different material samples and experiments to determine which would most effectively capture the formation of a meteorite. The Interstellar console table took this exploration further than the original side table, using more durable materials and refined methods.

The copper base is hand-bent and hammered to represent the collisions that occur in the formation process whilst creating a flowing, organic form. The patinated copper showcases the long timescale over which these events take place, while also celebrating the copper’s natural colours and beauty.

The polished finish and jagged edges of the top represent both the rocky exterior of a meteorite and the metallic elements hidden within.
