Interstellar: Side table

The Interstellar Side Table is inspired by how meteorites form. Its design reflects the natural processes behind these cosmic objects, capturing their unique patterns and beauty. This table celebrates the millions of years it takes for meteorites to form, blending art and science into a functional piece of furniture.

Process

The Interstellar series went through a highly experimental design process. This included over fifty different material samples and experiments testing which ones would capture how a meteorite would form most effectively. This project was also the foundation of the Interstellar console table, the second piece in the series.

The table has a patinated copper base. The process of hammering the base represents the collisions that occur to meteoroids when in space whilst the aged copper shows the long time scale in which these events take place.

The polished and broken top represents a cross section of a meteorite showing both the rocky outside and the metalic elements hidden inside.
